Basset Bleu de Gascogne: A Unique Breed
With its distinctive features reminiscent of its large ancestry, the Basset Bleu de Gascogne is stocky yet never heavy. Its unique silhouette is similar to other Bleu de Gascogne breeds but is clearly distinguished by its short legs.

The coat is mottled in black and white, giving it a lovely slate blue sheen.

The coat is thick, medium coarse, and very short.
Morphology
The head features a slightly rounded skull with a very subtle stop. Its brown eyes are deep-set and oval-shaped. The long, drooping, and thin ears add to its charm.
Its broad, well-opened black nose complements a long, saber-shaped tail that can even touch the ground when at rest.
According to the FCI nomenclature, this breed belongs to group 6, section 1, and is designated #35.
